* Winds...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 40 to 50 mph.

* Humidity...RH reductions to 10 to 15 percent in the afternoon. Nighttime recoveries of 40 to 60 percent Sunday morning, except 30 to 40 percent in southern Mono and Mineral counties.

* Duration...3 to 6 hours.

* Impacts...The combination of strong winds and low humidity can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

* WHAT...Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 45 to 50 mph. Wave heights of 2 to 4 feet on Pyramid Lake.

* WHERE...In California, Surprise Valley California. In Nevada, Northern Washoe County and Western Nevada Basin and Range.

* WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 2 AM PDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds and rough waters will create hazardous boating conditions on area lakes, including Pyramid Lake, and Lahontan and Rye Patch reservoirs. Blowing dust may reduce visibilities, including along Interstate 80, Highway 50, and Highway 95. Winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Now is the time to secure loose outdoor items such as patio furniture and trash cans before winds increase which could blow these items away. The best thing to do is prepare ahead of time by making sure you have extra food and water on hand, flashlights with spare batteries and/or candles in the event of a power outage.

Check lake conditions before heading out and be prepared for a sudden increase in winds and wave heights. Consider postponing boating activities on the lake until a day with less wind. close
